Today supposed to be the NY area meet yet i had a group meeting with my group for an engineering workshop in the morning. I was expecting our works to be finished at 11 so i can go home and drop off my stuffs and grab mi rigs to head to Harrison. Turns out my dumb buddies can never just focus on finishing the works. 12:20, i was frustrated about the delay and rushed home; the adorable N train that i dated for almost my entire life long decided to be late for once.... a maximum 40min ride including wait time turned out to be about longer than an hour... I got off the train at 1:30 just to found the sky was pouring. The meet ends around 4 or 5 and it takes me about 2hours to get to Harrison(by train..). I gave up and walked home slowly in the rain just to found out my mail box was full and stuffs are all wet.... Grabbed whatever was in the mail box and went inside.. threw everything on the sofa and ....

this was in middle of the pile!

It was the free JBud J3 from the Generous JLAB Audio!
JLAB was giving free samples for review! so here it.

NOTE: This is NOT a professional review. It is just my brief impression and 2cents; the phones haven't burn in yet(24~48hours of burn in required and recommended by manufacturer). If you don't like it, its fine by me i just feel like posting this since this is the only good thing happened whole day long.

It seems this is not the commercial package that use for their normal sales.
these are everything in the box.

I shall cover up my serial number since i haven't register the product yet.(Do i need to?)

The Mini Samba Travel case looks more useful that those cases come with Shure headphones. It is more compact yet i can fit in a pair of custom iem.

Heres the headphone in wrapper.

more wrappers..

these little buds are really small.. comparison with custom iems.

Metallic finished body with silicone tips, the real thing looks a lot better and smaller than pictures. They actually have wax filters this time(they did not do so on j2, my friend complained a lot about that).

I'm not too sure about whats that hole for. I assume it is for air to float in for better soundstage and bass?

Out of the box, i checked cable a bit. It is thick but not as thick as Shure's..but both of them don't have histories of making good cables so whatever.. I twisted it around a little bit and it tangled easily. The Cable is short in my opinion, only 36" long. There is the adjuster on the Y cord.

The fit is really good. It is light and small, i had no problem putting it on and off or wearing it cords up or down. It comes with 4different pairs/sizes of silicone tip. from a large one to extra small, who actually has THAT small ears... Only a pair of each size so if one is lost, good game.. Good thing is.. they are really hard to take off/put on..i guess they don't come off easily during normal use..

I plugged it into my itouch's hp out(shadow is currently in transit to Ray's home for check up). Once again in 2days i was surprised at the soundstage(happened once when i listen to my se530 reshells on Friday).
It seems that hole in the back is really for air to float in. I'm gonna confirm that with JLAB. At first, it sounded thin with that exaggerated treble.. Seriously.. that is too much... but i actually notice the bass is there! Not being thin at all, or rather the bass is pretty powerful. Unlike the previous version J2, the bass is punchy but it is not muddy and does not cover up the mid like J2. It is more clear than J2..way more clear, the separation between instrument was really well done. Yet it feels similar to the J2... the mid is not there.. hey... where is the vocal! Now, the bass control is better but where is the mid still? I hope it is just the bass and the treble overwhelmed the mid which it should be fixed with EQ(currently off). Somehow the sibilance is pretty strong.. it really remind me of when i first plug my K701 into my dad's Yamaha receiver with hilled treble in the living room. This and the trebles are way too sharp..

ON TREBLE REDUCER.
NOW THAT SOUNDS FLAT! i wonder if JLAB really put a 10+db Bump starting from 2.5kHz to 20k? It was probably needed to increase the clarity; with the treble reducer on the clarity is still there, the mids can be heard better now, even the sibilance is reduced but not completely gone..

After Burn in..
i will do that after they are completely burn in or at least the 24hours JLAB suggested.

I shouldn't give any conclusion yet but one thing for certain. This is targeted the younger generation... the design, the sound.. or even the cable length and tip sizes.. In my eyes they are more than a perfect gift for my 14yr niece, but when i showed them to my friends brother who is a senior in high school, he said they are hot.

They really give those skullcandies and ue loud enough series a really good competition for the market. I have not heard many other phones in this price range except briefly with J2 so i cannot really judge on that. Might as well as order the RE2 for comparison, but i do like them, not just the free factor. =D

P.S there are some comments between the pictures, be sure u don't skip them. =| it seems most people skipped what i wrote between pictures last time i posted something similar. Feel free to point out any errors, I'm too lazy to proof read myself and I feel like going to the parade in my neighborhood right now even though i don't know whats going on...peace

interesting, I just got mine in the mail too
smily_headphones1.gif
I plan on posting my own initial impressions too, probably in a hour or so.

EDIT: also the packaging you got is their commercial packaging, its called Amazon Frustration Free Packaging, the point being no blister plastic, and easy to open. If you to amazon/their website it says in the desprection that it ships with this packaging. And yes, I'd go ahead and register it(if you are planning on keeping them) so that if something goes wrong with them you can get them fixed/replaced, just make sure that you do within 30 days.
