Got my replacement! Way sooner than expected... I'm in India and they said the shipping might take 10-20 days. The new set arrived in 8 days!

Ok... I'm listening to the new pair (with double-flange tips) as I write this and it's a sea change from the old set. The mids are in control and not bleeding over everywhere masking other frequencies. The lows are deep, but highly dependent on that perfect fit. Lastly, thanks to the controlled mids, the highs are coming out well. They are not as prominent as I would have liked but I think they'll open up with some burn-in.
The sound stage and separation is good, but I've heard better in the PL-30 (I know I have to stop comparing the two!). Anyways I hope that too will get better with some burn-in.

Final words - Thank god I mailed MeElec! Their CS ROCKS!!! The earlier piece was definitely defective or fake. I think the latter is more plausible - there is a small but noticeable difference in the construction! Never order from mediahome.in (if you're in India)!

How does it compare with the RE-Zero/RE0?

Oh god...  The two you are asking to compare are basically polars of each other :p

The M6s are less articulate, but more flavored.  They lack the details that the RE0s give, and have a lot mroe bass quantity.  The quality however, is less of that of the RE0.  The treble is a little harsh on the M6 when compared to the RE0s, but are of greater quantity.  I forget what the mids sounded like though.  That's all I remember.  RE0 has much better quality, but lacks the bass body which the M6 does give you (but then they lack the quality; still not bad quality though).

That's the nicest way I can put the RE0s are so much better than the M6s without being too harsh on the M6...  The M6 is great for the price, but the RE0 is a much better choice.  It also depends on what you listen to.  If you do hip-hop, dubstep, rap, etc, you may want to get something that has a lot mroe bass quantity (like the M6/M9 if you're on a tight budget).

So would you say that RE-Zero/RE0 are good for instrumental/classical/rock?

Yes.  I listen to rock, alternative, some pop, and a heck lot of acoustics and they seem to play those pretty well.  The pop seems to be lacking ever so slightly on the bass though.  For your genres, the RE0/RE-ZERO can work.  If you are going unamped, get the RE-ZERO.

Ahh thanks for mentioning the 'acoustics' part... they'll work for me too then! :)

Is it normal for the left side to be more vocally audible? I'm listening to Sara Bareilles and it seems like her singing is favoring my left ear but the some of the instruments are more distinguished in my right ear.

It depends on how the track was meant to be presented. Maybe listen to it in a different pair of earphones to see if it gives the same results. If it doesn't, you most likely have a channel imbalance.

Yeah looks like the channel is imbalanced. Had my brother listen, same results. Then, I tried his earphones and they sound even (thought it might be my right ear for a while). So I guess I'm going to call MEElectronics to get these replaced. Thanks for the help -y0-.

No problem, glad you got that figured out. Meelec should replace that with no issues, they have one of the best customer service I've ever experienced.

Yeah, there was no need to convince them (which you shouldn't have to do anyways...). There Customer Service Rep, Mike, asked a few questions, and then told me to send them my order info so he can send me a replacement. Now comes the question, how long is the wait for the replacement (for those who had their earphones replaced of course)?

Usually only a day or two for me, it's shipped 1st class from CA so it depends where you live.

OK, I'm going to tell you this right now, since you are getting the P model.  The remote recently got updated on that model, the old remote will almost always break withing first few weeks of use.  The new remote looks and seems much more durable and able to last longer.  Ensure it has the new remote before buying.
