Hey,

Would RE0 > Fiio E5 > Rockboxed v1 Sansa Fuze with FLAC and flat eq have good synergy/sound quality?

Just wondering as I bought an 8gb v1 Fuze off Ebay just now after being tempted for ages now and am hoping it will sound better than my current setup in my sig that's playing 320kbps mp3's

My current Sony sounds terrible with flat/no eq and with eq sounds processed and coloured just like I remember people saying before I bought it

Thanks

The Fuze and RE0 have very good synergy. E5 doubles as a good bass boost, but it is not necessary and kills some of the high-end detail IMO.

hrmm I keep hearing that, but I guess I will have to wait and see when my E5 comes around. I wouldn't mind sacrificing a little high end detail for extra bass when I listen to some hiphop.

So the Fuze alone with the RE0 would be good, eh? I was thinking about ordering the RE0's....

If you like Ety sound you'll probably like the RE0

It just turned up earlier this morning (the Fuze) and from listening so far it sounds (and performs) better than my Sony A729 in every way possible.

I might do a little review of them both at some point even

The Fuze sounds much more natural and real like I wanted it to, when comparing the same songs on the Sony it sounds like something is being added to make it sound better - and it even sounds a little unclear in comparison.

The Fuze has a MUCH larger soundstage and I can hear more details than the Sony. As well as the Fuze supporting FLAC and gapless (with rockbox, which took about 30 seconds to put on the Fuze)

Overall it was VERY much worth the £30 it cost for the 8gb, Now I think I'm FINALLY happy with my portable setup lol

if you use E5, you may need an attenuator to suppress the hiss.
Compared with many other IEMs, hissing is usually already lower with RE0, but E5 does increase hissing.

No necessary. Keeping Fuze volume high and E5 volume low will be enough.

does rockbox run smoothly?

Hi, yes it is running smoothly so far for me (on the v1 Fuze)

It is a bit weird to navigate though and took some time to get used to. I'm still not 100% sure if I'm keeping rockbox on there as I want a line out for the Fuze at some point and I don't think you can use rockbox with a line out.

Line out + stock firmware = possibly a bit better sound quality but no gapless

Rockbox = gapless playback, but a little less sq maybe?

It's a tough decision

Oh it seems if I hold the left button on the click wheel thing when booting the Fuze it boots into the normal Fuze "dashboard" instead of Rockbox, which means if I'm using the line out I can boot into standard Fuze dashboard (that supports line out) and if I want to listen to the gapless songs (only have about 30 or 40 of them) I need to boot into Rockbox instead.

That was easier than I though
