All holes and all vent and driver coverings are stock. The microfiber sits on the stock white material.

Is this over the stock felt or instead of/replacing it?

Just added a spacer in the shure pads to give my massive ears some room, but now I can hear a lot of resonance, especially in some average recordings. Can't afford to get modding materials just yet, so I'll have to wait. I noticed the Shure pads tamed the highs a bit, which honestly i'm not a fan of, but the comfort alone makes it worth it.

Try the headphones before modding them? What kind of insanity is that?!?!

Strange didn't you try your own stock t50rp before modding it that is if you bought a modded pair.So what changed all of sudden?

I got it stock first but i was too excited about all the modding around here,i thought that i can bring it near LCD-2 level with only one time mod then i immediately mod it after one day burn-in so i don't remember how it sound for the first time.
I read many posts about how amazing this T50rp mid is but i never got that feeling until now. The stock T50rp has the mid to die for, i really enjoy it

P/s: I also listen to the headphone before mod, about 3 or 4 hour to get the impression how it sound.

You know ... today when I hopped into my car to head to work, it felt and drove much like the Lamborghini Aventador.

I mean, I was quite impressed.  A V-12 engine, 690 horsepower, 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds and only $387,000.00.  What really amazed me though, was the fact that I paid less than $10,000 for my vehicle (used).

If the modification steps - at least the basics were followed, the T50RP has to sound better than stock.  (Plasticine, PaxMate, and Shure ear pads) alone, make a 100% improvement.  From there, the adjustments seem to be in smaller increments, but they're possible.

Thats great if you enjoy them stock what ever works for you.Personally So far i'm not very impressed with the stock t50rp but i'm also not disappointed with them i can hear small details and flaws in recordings i like that..I do find the ear pads a bit uncomfortable after a while when i have the money i will try some of the simple mods in this awesome thread and see if it makes any huge difference.

Do you have a stock T50, LCD2 or Senn 650 tested on this system?  It's hard to grock what the curve means without a few known "references" to compare curves against...

This looks interesting...

Is the Shure pad mod just for comfort or is there a sonic gain to be had? I have small ears and have no problem with the stock pads so wondering if it's worth spending the money.

I switched pads on my stock T50 and compared them a bit after about 20 hours of burn-in. I definitely prefer the stock pads sound. Everything in the middle to upper region sounds more detailed, but with slightly less instrument separation and soundstage compared to the Shure pads. I also found the Shure pads didn't sound quite as lively as the stock pads, especially on drums.
I'd say, get the Shure pads if you feel like you need better isolation and more comfort. If you're happy with the stock pads, don't give it too much thought and just enjoy them.

The Shure pads really benefit from some mods, with a stock can I don't think they add audio value...  Pad change = mods required...
