Can you please tell us the EF-5's output impedance?

Thanks.

EF5 can get 2 watt non-distortion output per channel on both channel at 32ohm. EF5 can easily get more than 1 watt non-distortion output at 8 ohm.
I don't want to say this because people will use it as a power amp and get more defect rate: 4 and 8 ohm load will make the PCB board temperature so hot that it might broken.

The way that I look at it, there's really no harm that can come from offering the 2 separate options.
Most who will buy these already know about the need for a higher inductance amp, so no one should be left out in the cold, expecting a cmoy or a low gain portable to be able to drive these.

I say, let people have the chance to make a knowledgeable decision, knowing that unless they have an amp with lots of power, they might need to get the combo.
Let the people decide. Give them the opportunity to choose empowerment.
Power to the people (literally).

Fang, I consider this pretty relevant information. Why didn't you convey this to those who were having issues (like me)?

Write it off to the true definition of "growing pains". You can bet he'll never make that same mistake again

When you are a young company, making products that are good enough to allow for continual growth. it's impossible to think of everything.

I host a NYC Spring meet every year, and every year it goes more smoothly, from learning from the mistakes that I made each time before.
@Tim, as long as in your case, the end justifies the means, then all is good in audio town.

I never knew that, this is good because usually, catastrophic failures happen within first 100 hours, mostly with PCB and P/S components. Or according to Cary Audio and Balanced Audio Technologies (BAT), it does.

I'm hoping my wa22 won't have any problems with the HE-5 when it arrives sometime in the beginning of the new year. Frankly I'm enjoying them at lower volumes with lesser amps (just before the crackling sets in). They sound _SO_ organic. I'm reminded of my Martin Logan SL3s. =)

I think this is quite funny now that you are upset about Fang not revealing burn in hours of batch 1 vs 2. I only suggested to you about 100 times for you to burn in the cans longer and that 100 hrs isn't even close to enough time for full burn in. Read my post #741 again. Two weeks of 24/7 is absolute minimum burn in time for dynamics and orthos.

Monkey says "No". Monkey would prefer bananas over burn-in. I like Monkey, even if I don't agree with him.

No serious quality control issues (no more than Sennheiser had with their first 100). Headband issues, rattling, and other assorted diddies.
Get turned off and miss out on a really nice can. Your loss. Life and perfect hearing, is too short.
They bring me gobs of joy and hopefully will bring Tim some Audio happiness in the weeks to come. I have full confidence that Sashu will find happiness soon, because he wants to, and wanting to, is the first step. Up to you.

Fang to clarify:

1. The first batch had 200 hours of pre-burn-in while the 2nd batch had 20 hours of pre-burn-in. Since mine have about 125 hours then I will need at least three more days of burn-in maybe more (total of 250 hours of total burn-in).
2. Power amps are not recommended to avoid burning in the pc-board inside of the HE5. If so then the Red Wine Audio Signature 30.2 I own is off limits to amp the HE5. Correct?

Will you be selling additional ear-pads and connectors in the near future? How about a balanced cable terminated in the AKG 4-pin plug. Thanks.

Pd: So far at 125 hours of burn-in the only recommendation I would make is for a longer than 6' SE cable. Personally I would love it at 10'.

The power output of Little dot MK VI+ is 5w per channal at 120ohms, is it power enough to drive the HE-5s?
IMO, the power output of MK VI+ is equel to 1.33w per channal at 32ohm, am I right?

Please don't force people to buy the pair if all they want are the headphones. There are many amps out there that sound good with HE-5, and people who already own a nice amp might not be able to afford the HE-5 if they have to buy the EF5 with it. No headphone will sound perfect with all amps, and I think most of your customers understand that and will not hold it against you if the HE-5 don't match their particular amp.

In my case, I have found the EF5/HE-5 to be a perfect match, and with the $99 Nuforce uDAC it's the best $1000 headphone rig I have heard. But, the HE-5 that I have here also sound good with my Woo WA6, SAC KH1000 amp and EC ZDT amp. People should have choices.

WA22 should be able to drive the HE-5 just fine - it has 2-3x the power of my WA6, depending on your output tubes. It has no problem with 25-32 ohm headphones.

I have spent lots of time to search this forums and finally made a decision to upgrade my amp to the Little dot MK VI for my first balanced rig. Now I am also very interested in HE-5s, but if this headphone only can be drived by EF5 or other few amps, I have to think it over.
