Klipsch Image S4?

seniordingdong,

I had similar problems, but that was quickly cured when I switched the ear tips from the Klipsch-provided eartips to the Comply Tx-100 eartips. Now, my Image S4i stays in my ears and I get clearer bass and even better noise isolation.

I was thinking of ordering the Comply Tx-100 tips, but the only way I could get them would be from ebay (they don't ship to my country and there aren't dealers here). If I were to order these, would I get the real thing? Sorry if it should be obvious, but I'm new to the 'ordering stuff from abroad' thing.

(Just my 4 a.m. thoughts/semi rant on these, feel free to ignore this post

Well I got my S4i a little over a week ago, and since then I've been burning them in with white+pink noise and my regular playlist. I probably have at least 100+ hours of burn in, and these are my thoughts:

With the regular oval tips, I can get a pretty solid seal, not the best, but a level that I'm certainly satisfied with... And with these tips, I get really nice bass, but also some very slight sibilance, but that isn't an issue really... The issue is the lacking vocal clarity I'm experiencing. However, with the small double flange tips, I get great clarity, but much less bass. These small double flange tips don't give me a very good seal though, so that could explain some of the lacking bass. I really wish they didn't leave out the larger double flange tips. I'm really interested in them, and I think they will be the best option for me, but not too interested in shelling out an additional $14, mainly because I just feel they should have been included initially...

Then there's the cord issues... It's honestly not bad, but I just hate how I have multiple sub $40 IEMs with MUCH nicer cords, but on the plus I don't have any microphonic problems...

And then, there's the poor quality microphone in this S4i... Worse than Apple stock buds and the $30 Jbuds J3M mic.... Pretty disappointing, but at least the Apple controls work nicely on my iPhone 3GS...

Also not a fan of the cheap pouch, I think I would prefer the tin from the non-mic version...

Overall, I'm a bit on the fence about keeping these. I probably will keep them, but I need to try the large double flange tips first... I tried some foams and triple flange from some Ety 6i, but didn't like them. I paid the full $100 for these S4i, so that's somewhat affecting my feelings for them. If I paid maybe $70, I would be much happier...

Am very much enjoying theses IEM's with Comply tips.

I do have one question though. On the right side, the wire is loose where it connects to the headphone. Thus, when I am walking, the wire keeps going in and out of the headphone, creating a very unpleasant noise.

What's the best way to fix this? I was thinking of putting a drop of glue, but I don't have much experience with this kind of thing.

Ordered my S4s today so they should be here in a couple days...

Should I just get the Comply tips now or wait to see how the Klipsch tips are? This is my first pair of IEMs, so I don't know anything about good fit and stuff.

It just seems like most people use the Comply tips, so I was ready to just get them now instead of waiting a few more days once I get the S4s...

Been using the S4 for about 14 hours now, so still in the early stages of burn in. Bass is very nice, these are brilliant for electronic music. So far so good, have noticed a mild improvement already. I have found the bass to be a little louder in the right ear, is this normal?

More bass in one ear compared to the other one is most likely a fit issue. Try to swap the earpieces in your ears, if the problem remains, its definitely is a fit problem. You then need to experiment with different tips to get the fullest possible sound in both ears. You might need a tip of a larger size for one ear compared to the other one.

No thoughts?

Mine are now at just over 150 hours & I really like them; bass is tighter, and the sibilance has toned down pretty nicely.

Anyone know whether the Sony Hybrid tips work on the S4? I'd rather go that route than Comply if possible.
