I would appreciate anyone's opinion on this.

I have had Grado SR 60's for about 6 months, them being my first decent headphones. Unfortunately, they are too noisy at night for my roommate, and my roommate's noise goes through them too well during the day.

Because of this, I am thinking about buying the Beyerdynamic DT250-80. (Sealed headphones) I am wary of the sound quality difference, especially since they cost about twice as much. Has anyone had experience with these headphones? Would I get a significant increase in quality with these headphones?

They Beyer DT-250/80 are superior to the SR-60's in every way.

squishedtoad,

I totally agreed with Kwarth. My first set of cans were the SR-80. Great sound for entry level cans. I had to give them up earlier this year for sealed cans for my late night listening/gaming. Did not want to wake up my wife and newborn son. Todd at Headroom recommended them. I bought them for $150 new from a photo/video store (located in NYC).

They can be powered by a portable
Great bass not as low and/or boomy as the Sony V6
Better detail (though not as detailed as my Senn 580)
Comfortable velour earpads
Good isolation
Solid construction - my now 16 month old son has dragged them around the condo a few times, still work fine.
The coiled cable terminates to the left earcup and is secured by a screw.
An amp makes them even better, IMHO less dark.
The extra cash is well spent.

Regards - reynman
