Im looking for something similar to the fiio e5. I dont know much about the fiio but I would love some bass and volume enhancement. I'm using a cowon s9 and Senn hd 485s. They volume is too low for me, needs a driver for sure.

Thing is, I am not sure which amp to go for. The e5, maybe a VOX? I dont have a high budget, maybe 50 bucks.

For that budget, might as well do the E5 if you don't need much else. That'll work with 485s no problem.

It's deceptively tiny - smaller than a credit card and very thin. Its a pretty warm-sounding amp and definitely a large improvement on the E5 soundwise, but I don't know how much HD485's benefit. It's out of the OP's budget though. A fiio is the smallest amp you can get for under $50 and fits the requirements.

Ya, I definitely need a decent little amp, the smaller the better. Just something that wont change the sound coming through the player to the headphones, I only want the volume raised. Hopefully the E5 can do that, and I can get a new one for 20 bucks with 30 day warranty.

the ibasso is too large :[

The E5 is really good, somebody mentioned that the T4 was only 30% better than the E5. I am going to be using my E5 mainly for the gym.

The E5 is pretty useless if you have a good headphone out on your device. Never used an iPod with an E5, but in the end that the E5 was actually not worth carrying around. But if you need volume, it will give you volume.

It will muddy it a little, but give a little better bass response. That's bout it, the sound stage gets a little airy. but remember, this is all hairline changes with the exception of the muddiness, which is actually pretty noticeable. Really detailed earphones/headphones with no bass response benefit.

Then give the FiiO a try, but I am pretty sure you will either be disappointed or convince yourself that you are not.

59.00 USD is the "Travagans Colors" It's a funny dogbone looking thing. It puts out a great transparent SQ and does not 'Colour" the sound or add a veil as I feel the E-5 does. USB rechageable.
The downside is no volume control and the unit powers on when you plug in the headphones, so you would have to remember to unplug your IEM's at the end of your session.
Very small as well. About the size of a real dog bisquit.
