Hi estreeter,

I don't get it? Did you post in the wrong thread or something? What does this have to do with the HD250?

No offence but try searching "amp* and MS2". I'd like to keep this thread on topic please.

Any thoughts on the options for tube rolling with the HD250?

This will be my first tube amp, and one of the things I am interested in exploring is the whole tube rolling thing.

I want to explore tube rolling in the HD250 as well.
My HD250 amp came with with new Mullard (Russian) 12AX7s and Electroharmonix EL84s. Dr. Peppard's experience with the 12B4As in the regular HD suggests that you won't get a lot of sonic change from different EL84s because they operate in cathode-follower mode which with its inherent feedback levels out the differences in characteristics.

That having been said. I bought 2 Mullard EL84s to slip in there anyway.

Llyod feels the driver stage tubes are the only ones that could to be rolled. Later this year I was planning on investing in some nice NOS 12AX7s. I have my heart set on some Telefunkens.

Llyod also suggested NOS or used 5751 would be a good choice as well.

For now I am trying to be patient and listen to the HD250 in stock format. Tube rolling will come later.

Congrats on your new amp. Two questions - I cannot find pricing anywhere on the site. Is there a link showing prices or do I need to email the doc. Also, is the Ear+ HD250 easy enough to assemble for someone with basic electronics/soldering skill? I have build MINT's before and done minor mods.

The pricing is right on the home page in the HD250 description - $1200.
There is no DIY version. It only comes assembled.

Henerenry - the detailed description link describes some of the differences.

I'm serial number 3, checking in! Looks like I'm the only one in sage green so far...

I'll receive my amp sometime later this month or early November according to Lloyd. I'll be sure to snap some pictures and post impressions after a while.

I'll be listening primarily with GS1000i and HD650 (Blue Dragon v.3).

Cheers!

BTW - I have new production Genelex EL84s and gold-in EH 12AX7s waiting for my amp.

My MAD Ear+HD sounds phenomenal with my RS1s and HD650 (SAA Equinox cable). You will not be disappointed!

Lloyd is a pleasure to deal with as well.

hello, I'm No. 7 in the queue, this will be my first tube amp, my intention was to buy the normal hd and denon5000 (I have a rs-1 and some AKG702), but I think the denon will have to wait, I would like to ask what other additional tubes could buy that brings the HD250 and what prices (2 x 12AX7, 2 x EL84 (operating in Triode mode)) course to improve its sound , I say it's my first amp valves and do not have much knowledge, thanks

#8 here..I picked a rowdy Red...I had an early HD an rued the selling decision.
Dr Lloyd's amps are honest, well built and are aesthetically pleasing while having sonic appeal much like the Woo offerings.
