I'm looking for a good, closed alternative to my Sportapros and the Senns seem to fit the bill with size, price, etc. I can grab a pair at Virgin Megastore for about $50 with a coupon.

I plan on doing some searching to see how they sound amped vs. unamped, but does anyone have any quick opinions as to how their sound compares to the Koss Sportapro/Portapro cans?

thanks!

I like them better than the PortaPros. The bass seems more controlled and the mids are smooth. I think they sound great for rock, especially guitars and male vocals. The treble seems a bit finicky though. I've heard recordings where the highs seem a bit trill and thin and others where they seem recessed. An amp and through a good line out seems to clear up things on the high end.

If you get them make sure to do the last half of burn in at very high volume (make sure they aren't distorting though) with bass heavy music.

That said, I love my PX200's but as mentioned, the highs can be a little recessed when driven by a portable.

Thanks for the advice! They'll get medium volume on a pop station today and tonight.... tomorrow, a li'l Eminem...
