This is probably a rather dumb question, but my head amp has only one set of inputs and I'd like to jack in my sound card as well as my DVD-A player w/out losing quality, any suggestions?

Use splitters!

Simple splitters are better used for connectinng one output to two inputs than vice versa, because in the latter way one output could damage the other in certain configurations. It would be better to build or buy a switcher (for example from QED) or to modify your amp accordingly.

You can get a decent input switcher at Radio Shack. IIRC it's between $10 and $20. One that is "audiophile quality", whatever that means, would likely cost more.

Here is a 5-way audio input switch box. Damn I hate when I forget where I read something, then have to backtrack through a weeks worth of web surfing.

For a while HeadRoom carried a nice switchbox -- check their website to see if it's still available.

I'll second the HeadRoom Switchbox recommendation. I used one for a while and it is very transparent. A tad more costly than the one from Radio Shack though.

Incidently, the picture of it on the site is.....uh, blurred. They used to have a nice clear picture before.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks guys! When I'm reemployed I'll have to order one of those.... And a better amp to... although has anyone ever heard the PreSonus HP4? It's dead silent and seems to work pretty well. I'm just wondering how much difference I'm going to experience from an upgrade... Thanks again for your help.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for amping the 590's? They sound great from my AudioTrak Opto Play, and pretty good when driven off of a portable directly, but when I plug them into the HP4 the midrange disappears completely... Also if there are any amps that I should really avoid, I'd like to know about them too... All this is going to have to wait till I have a job again but I'd like to start looking at my options now.

The other cans that I'll be using with said amp will be HD 280 Pro, PX100, PX200 and maybe even the MX500's and possibly even some Grados in the future.
