In your opinion: Which is the most famous song of the tracks listed here?

I had an argument with a friend once involving many of these songs and which were more well known......you can only vote for one, look at the whole list before voting.

P.S. you are voting for most famous (well known) not your favorite:-)

I am going to say that more people around the world know We Are The Champions than any of the other songs listed. It is played at all the sporting events and in a ton of movies.

BTW: DavidMahler, you are on a roll with the polls and new threads. Are you competing with AdamCalifornia?

does it count if they know We Are The Champions but don't know its Queen?

I imagine 40,000 people in a stadium hear it - probably even sing along - without knowing

Yep that's why I voted for it. And also, I kept in mind what I think is true in today's world. Move this poll back 20 or so years and I would have picked Yesterday.

I vote for Hotel California. All of them are famous, but I hear Hotel California playing more often than I do the rest.

Surely it has to be between Yesterday, Imagine & Satisfaction, instantly familiar across all ages & nationalities....The Eagles or Skynrd maybe in the States, but I doubt they're hummin' it in Uzbekhistan (if they hum anything on the list!). Floyd, Queen et al? Nah. My gran wouldn't have known what they were.....

Im the one only one who voted for "Satisfaction"??
Theres no way "Yesterday" is the most famous song on the list.

You know how you know when something is famous?
When you sing a song from this list to a high school kid and see if he recognizes it.

Id bet most would recognize Queen and the Stones before any of the other groups.
My guess is We Are the Champions and Satisfaction are the two most famous simply due to their countless uses over the years ie. sporting events, commercials, movies, television, etc.

That's my litmus test. ALL of my students know We Are the Champions, and I am confident that this is the only song on that list I can say that about. I also thought about worldwide popularity, and that is where We Are the Champions really beats out all other songs. Think of all the soccer stadiums and other sporting events that undoubtedly played that song. I have never heard Yesterday at a sporting event. It's about sheer exposure, and We Are the Champions has the most.
