Try Hsu Research. I have the older VTF2 and it's fantastic. You can also ask them for B stock. I saved about $100.

I have the ESW-8 version, got it at costco for $129. Basically plug and play with RCA cables on my A5's and set the crossover frequency. I heard it's basically the same as this one but I didn't want to wait for the week+ shipping (east coast to west by ground):

On the A2, what's the best way to hook things up so there's only one volume control? There's no sub out on the A2, unfortunately... Any ideas?

For only $0.61 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 3.5mm Stereo Plug/two 3.5mm Stereo Jack cable - 6 inches | 3.5mm Audio M/M Cables

For only $0.54 each when QTY 50+ purchased - 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Plug cable - 6ft | 3.5mm/RCA Audio Cables

The one volume control is your computer or source device.

Velodyne VX-10 is inexpensive and works great with the A5's.

Fry's has them onsale all the time for 129.00 bones.

If you want an analog volume control you could get something like the NHT PVC PC, and then use splitters to send the signal to the speakers and sub.

Just decided to order a MUSILAND SVDAC06 instead and replace the A2s with refurbished A5s. Once that equipment arrives, I'll reconsider whether I still even need a sub...

There we go again... from the $150 I had planned on to probably > $500... Sucks to have an addiction

You won't regret it. However, I still think you'll need a subwoofer if you listen to bass-centric music. I use the Polk Audio PSW111 with my A5's. The results have been great. Very tight and musical sub, but it doesn't go too deep (severe rolloff below 40hz).

Avoid very large subwoofers if your room is small to mid-sized, it will be a nightmare to deal with room acoustics and placement.

It's a sad day when Velodyne makes a $100 sub...
