Terrific craftsmanship. I have never been taken by the Focal sound, but must admit that they do make some very good speakers.

$180k?! That's a few times more than the last generation. I really do feel they bumped the price for the sake of being up there with the Von Schweikerts, Wilsons, Kharmas, etc etc.

And they'd tell you the reason for MDF is because they are less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity. Believe me I've asked, but don't believe what I tell you.

That's exactly the reason. MDF is reliable, natural wood isn't. Differences in density, reaction to humidity, temperature and the list goes on..

One probably should not expect less for $180k though.

Very impressive and they choose great music as well for that video. I would buy those monitors, but where do I find bank to rob with cash these days

For that price the least they could do is beryllium everywhere and they can make the enclosure from aluminium alloy / titanium / whatever.

I almost bought Focal Chorus 706 bookshelves....then I ended up with Energy RC-10, because the Focal tweeter could become fatiguing at times (although very detailed/extended)..

Wow, that was a very cool video. I was kinda mesmerized watching them assemble it; the video seemed to go on much longer than it actually was. Woefully out of my financial reach though.

I worked for a JM dealer years ago. The Mezzo Utopia was as high up the line as I personally auditioned, and it was the best speaker I've ever listened to. 13k at the time. A bargain by comparison!
