I blew my MDR-E888LPs and i was the saddest person on the planet. I then got some new white Ex71's and i love them but i fear that i'll blow them if i listen to music too loud. Is this all in my head or can earphones easly blow from loud music.

PS. I have an iPod and i usually don't go past 3/4 of the volume bar because of my phobia...Is there a way to prevent theses accidents?

earphones can blow just like a speaker can blow... e888 cant handle very much power in my opinion. but using the ex70 (whichI'm sure is very similiar to the ex71) I noticed that they can handle quite a bit of juice. partly because u dont have to put all that much in them to get a loud enough output. so I doubt you'll be able to blow them all that easily.

i doubt you could 'blow' them as easily as you can do so with speakers.

and, if you did blow your earphones while listening, you would have probably blown your eardrums too.

those sony 888 are really fragile. excess volume, which happens easily during burning in, can kill the drivers. some sort of distortion or flapping noise can be heard during bassy tracks.

i think your e71 should be fine as i haven't heard of blown e70/71 drivers yet.
