So, basically, i ordered some K701s and paired them with my Meier Audio Corda 3move and personally.. I think they're fine. By fine, i mean well pronounced with no major distortion/problems (to my ears). They sound accurate. I have the dial at around 10-11 o'clock on high gain (my listening volume).

So, before they arrived I really thought i'd probably need something significantly beefier to drive these, however they drive fine (imo). I can't make a fair comparison with better equipment since I have nothing to make a comparison to. The music that DOES sound distorted is electronic music, which sound similar to when coming out of the HD555s.

Jazz and fully-orchestrated classical sounds good. I have yet to make comparisons with different sources/amps.

Off the topic of portable amps.. Personally I prefer these over the HD650s due to their much more detailed sound (which does sound odd in some music).

Dont fret too much though. I'll eventually buy a dedicated desktop amp and a dac.. student. Might build a starving student when I have some time for more power, but.. thats for another topic.

Nice. I've always wanted to hear K701/702's and an amp by Meier. Care to reference the specific artists you are listening to for these impressions?

I mean, you'll probably get sound out of it. Until you really hear it pushed by a dedicated desktop..you don't know what you're missing. Promise.
