Who would have thought...im a Grado man!

Congrats! I've been experimenting with Senns and Yamaha orthos, but I just got some SR225s off the forum, so I'll be getting my first real taste of Grado too.

I was messing around with a friend's SR60i a while back...I too have heard that Grado doesn't do classical, so I'd been avoiding them, but I was more than pleased with his 60s. Hard to explain taste, sometimes.

Everything is relative. A person may be very happy with a model and think there is no way it can be surpassed.......until they DO hear a superior sound. Listen to a pair of X-Deep Darths, modded k340, or dt990/600 and then try to tell yourself that Grado is a good choice for classical. ..........of course the reverse would be true as Grado is clearly superior for Jazz and Rock.
You might also suppose you've reached a pinnacle with RS-1 - until you've put HF-2, or PS1000 on your head. I've been very happy with RS-1/flats......until I received HF-2 this week. Now not absolutely positive - because I'm preferring the HF-2/bowls ATM........time will tell if burn-in will takes them more clearly over the top. Right now, hoping to find someone who is foolish enough to sell their HF-2, so I can gain a backup pair.

I wouldn't necessarily say pinnacle, more of a variety, just to spice things up a little

I've been a long time Senn fan but am eargerly waitin to dip my toes in Grado waters w/ the HF-2s which i've ordered weeks ago. What you're sayin is definately encouraging though Bushguy... HF-2>RS-1 with flats... of the very limited time i've spent with the RS-1 I found them nice but i preferred the GS1000 a bit more.. my gf was the opposite though... let's hope she does NOT like the HF-2 so much that she steals them from me eh?

Why didn't you get the HF2?

ditto above. The HF-2 is superior to the 325i ............there was a time I had 325i - now have both RS-1 and HF-2. Actually have 2 pairs of RS-1 and might sell the non-vintage pair.

It took me a while to discover grado. i mean...i always heard the name grado right from the start but never thought seriously to try a pair, I always thought myself as a sennheiser and denon kind of audiophile(that are amazing in their own way). but when i finally pull the triger on the RS-1 it was like:
man!...this is what i have been looking for all this time! I never looked back.
the grado sound is just the BEST for anything but electronic music IMO and maybe not the best for classical also, but for the rest (rock, metal, jazz etc.) they are my favourite.

I love them so much that i want to get another pair of lower model...i hear so much good comments about them.

welcome to the grado fan club!

I fell for the Grado sound immediately, but I don't necessarily consider
myself a "Grado" man. I am looking forward to owning many different
brands in the future (like so many fortunate people here).

Well I'm currently out of the country at the moment and I found the hf2 thread last night after posting and couldn't resist. The 325i's will be sent back when I get home, or I could keep them both and be poor for a while...

i think you will appreciate both in the end if you truly love that grado sound. give the 325i some time though...most will shy away from them because of their bright signature.

just received my HF2 btw and burning them as we speak. they definitely are a grado, but they don't have that shout or that snare that the other cans are known for. that's all i'll say for now.
