I for one feel bad that things have worked out like this, they're good guys trying to do good things (they've succeeded by the way) I want to thank both of these fine gentlemen and wish them, as well as the rest of the community "happy listening"!

got my pair yesterday and opened it up today. there's some scratches and scuff marks on the metal cups, so visually they're a bit disappointing. haven't listened to them enough to give any impressions on the sound yet.

Just placed an order for mine. Very excited about getting them. At least everyone's will be Head-F1 (except for a few prototypes I suppose). That takes care of any envy I'd probably feel about not getting a correctly engraved one.

I thought they were surrounded by foam in the shipping box. Can you post some pics?

Mine came with some marks and some minor nicks. I think this probably classifies as typical Grado.

No sense returning for replacements seeing as there will be NO stock of replacements. Best you'll do is get a refund.

This might be a little odd given my dissapointment over the '1' error but I could more easily live with some minor normal handling nicks. Minor nicks give a sense of individuality as opposed to an obvious blunder.

My first impression is that they really do sound like PS1's. This is from memory of course, but my feeling of the PS1 is that is the most neutral John Grado phone. The PS1 sounds to me like he took the HP1000 and John-ified it, adding treble and bass, and the mids have always sounded colder than the HP1K. I pesonally, never understood them.

These give me a very similar feeling of clinical presicion in the mids and treble, and lots of slammin bass. They are really intense with flat pads! yowza

I'm not sure they're getting your message.

Well I read his post, and then examined mine under light so that it was reflecting off the surface of the metal, and yes, there's some hairline scratches in one spot and a little smudge in another spot. But really, I had to look for it. I don't buy headphones as dolls, or trophies, or anything like that, and I don't think perfection is necessarily what makes something beautiful. I did notice a wood chip that is stuck to the back of one of the drivers...not sure about that

On the matter of flats, I don't think you should worry about it, you can always get them later.

These phones sound like they are on steroids. Really dynamic and crisp.

I probably should've clarified my last statement. I think the whole quality thing with Grado is like playing the lottery...sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

BTW, I am listening to my pair with some old earpads from a pair of Sennheiser PC-150's. The comfort is much better than with bowls, but I'm not sure if I like the sound as much. I may try and do some minor earpad mods later on.
