Hey guys,

First of all, I'm new and this is my first post so sorry if I do anything stupid

.

So here's the deal. I'm buying IEM's and I'm more or less choosing between Denon C751 which I can get for 90 £ and Jays Q-jays for 114 £. I don't have a lot of experience with IEM, the best I had were Shure SE110 (which were awesome in terms of sound isolation and overall fit, but dissapointing in sound quality). I use an Ipod Classic and mostly listen to Rock/Metal. Which would you recommend and in case it's the Q-jays, do you think they are worth 25 £ more?

Thank you

Jeah, I have thought about that and I was thinking of buying Comply tips to get better isolation. I see you have a lot of experience with different IEM's, how would you rate the SE210 (or SE310 if you've heard them) when comparing them to the Denons? I really like Shures, they fit in my ears really well and I'd love to stick with them buy I've been led to believe they aren't as good as the Denons/Q-jays. If they (SE210/310) are on the same level, then I'd definitely prefer the Shures.

the 210 are alright but for the same money better can be had, 310 ive not heard.

the 210 and c751 are very different, 210 is all mids na the c751 has lost of bass and lots of highs, just totally opposites but good quality and very fun sounding ones they have burned in the c751 are the better of the two. but remember they sound nothing a like

do you know what kind of sound it is you are looking for? how much isolation do you want or not care about it?

oh and there is somehting ive not heard myself but the RE-0 is currently going cheap and is supposed to be very very good. you might want to read a review or two on it

I've owned both the AH-751 and the q-Jays.

To my ears the AH-751 were a lot more fun sounding, smooth with lots of bass, but isolation (even with comply tips) wasn't great and I was constantly fiddling with them to get a more comfortable fit. They're big and bulky compared to other canalphones and the cable is quite heavy/stiff so I heard quite a lot of cable microphonics.

The q-Jays are a lot more comfortable and discreet, but I hated the sound signature. I found them too bright with very forward treble. Lots of people really like the SQ but there's a fair smattering of people who think they lack bass ... and I'd agree with that. The bass is very tight but has no delay so I found that music sounded a little artificial and lacked atmosphere. I listen to a lot of classical, and on some pieces of music a triangle would sound as if it were being held right next to my ear while a tuba would sound like it was in another room down the corridor.

In addition, my q-Jays became unusable after 3 or 4 weeks as one of the drivers in the right earbud became extremely distorted. They were returned with an RMA form and I requested a repair or replacement. It took 2 months for me to finally get a curt reply by email, saying that the earphones couldn't be replaced and that I'd been refunded (minus about £12 in postage costs) ... I wasn't particuarly impressed with the customer service I received.

In conclusion, I'd recommend the AH-751s out of the two options you mention. They do sound great but just don't expect them to provide great isolation.

I've read some reviews of the RE-0's and and that pricepoint, they're quite a bargain. The only thing that worries me is that they look "chinese"

, the packaging doesn't exactly look like you're buying a high quality product. Anyway, thanks for all the help guys, I'll think about it some more and decide.
