Been dying to compare some RS-1's to my MS-Pros.

I must admit that the mostly glowing posts from CD3000 owners have had me intrigued for some time now. I finally broke down and ordered a pair so I'd say I'm fairly pumped about hearing them.

R-10's, HD650, and HP-1 or 2

I've heard a LOT of what's up there on the list, with the exception of most of the Stax. The one I'm really curious about is the Sennheiser HD650.

If anyone hasn't noticed yet, I'm an AKG guy. I like (but don't love) the Sennheiser HD600, mostly for the so-called veil that I keep hearing so much about. I find it to be somewhat muffled and muted in the mid-to-high range. This is, IMHO, the range in which the best systems do their best work. Maybe this is why I'm such an AKG K501 fan?

Rumor has it that the HD650 has made some strides in this regard. If this is the case, it is very good news indeed.

I'd very much like to hear (and buy) the Grado SR-225. From what I've read they seem like a very nice headphone for my tastes at a price that is within the realm of possibility. Sure I'd love to try some R-10s or some Stax but that's not going to fit within my budget anytime soon.

I noticed there were no Beyers on the list. I recently got a pair of DT-931s and although these are my first pair of "high-end" phones I think they sound great. I'm really curious now to hear some other Beyers as these seem really well made and very revealing.

I voted for the Sennheiser HD-650. I've been looking forward to a HD-600 successor for a long time, so the HD-650 is one of the most anticipated audio product releases in a while for me.

Second on the list for me would be the R-10, as I haven't heard it yet.

Third on the list would be the Stax 4040, as I haven't heard it yet either, and it seems to have a very reasonable price point.

And since the Orpheus is the best I've yet heard, I'd always welcome an opportunity to hear one again.

I've heard it all but electrostats...high end ones that is. I want to hear Stax Omega II's first...then the Big O for kicks...and then I'll try my luck with some HD 650's. A revisit with the R10's would be nice as well....

I want the AKG K1000 (where are they in your list ?). And with it a really nice tube amp and a pair of full range speaker.

It's my little dream. Easily cured by about 3000-4000€. Till i can afford all that, I wanna listen to the results of the future K340 mods. Perhaps Number9 is right and I won't need any other cans.

I voted HP-1 because that will be the headphones that I will most likely eventually pay the most for. But in the meantime, I can't wait to hear the SR-100's I won off ebay.. I'm giddy with excitement!!

And if they come with the flat pads, I think I will do Tiger Wood's air punch.. And then put them in an airtight canister to save them for the HP-1s when I finally get them..

Now that I've finally heard these:

K1000 w/RKV MK II
ATH-W2002 w/HP4
RS-1 w/Max
MS-Pro w/Max & HP4
HP-2 w/HP4
ER-4S w/Max
DT-880 w/Corda PreHead
MDR-CD3000 w/ZOTL

Only the big 4 remain:

HD-650 w/Max or Blockhead (My poll choice)
MDR-R10 w/Angstrom II (PLEASE Nik)
Omega II w/KGSS (SRM-007t was weak, 717 was better)
The Mighty Orpheus (We can all dream)

Move up to or visit Seattle (not too far away!) and you might get to hear Eric343's Orpheus (and zzz's SR-007 with KG/hybrid) side by side at the next Seattle meet...

fewtch,
I thought Eric343 didn't have the Orpheus system, but rather the HE90 headphones connected to a modified Stax amp. While it would still be awesome to hear that combo, it's not the same as the legendary HEV90 + HE90 combo, aka Orpheus. Either way, just placing the HE90 on my head would be a quasi-orpheus experience (I was THIS CLOSE to buying the Orpheus system this weekend for a DAMN FINE price; I chickened out, of course...that whole "rent" and "bills" issue would loom above my head).

My mistake (thanks, Wilson). I was thinking "Orpheus" in terms of the headphones, I probably should have just said Sennheiser HE90.

As far as zzz... shucks, I would have liked to get a much better listen to the SR-007, in particular with his amp. Maybe someone will attend next time with an R10, someone in Seattle's got to have a pair. That could be interesting. I just don't like the idea of selling my body, so hopefully if they materialize at a meet they really aren't anything that special...
