Maybe its the fact that I'm using too much lingo (although you figured they'd know that lingo) but I seem to have to repeat myself 129521 times before I get the damn people to give me a quote on how much impressions cost.

This is what I ask "I'm wondering how much it would cost to get impressions made of both my ears so that I can send them to an In-ear monitor manufacturer"

and that somehow breaks their whole brain.. they ask if this is for ear pieces, ear molds, hearing aids, blah blah..

What am I doing wrong? Or is everyone around me a moron?

When I got mine done for UE last year, they had both a video and printable instructions on their website. They also had a list of recommended audiologists, but that was hit and miss for me. I had them take the first guy from their list in my area off their website since they rejected molds I had done twice by him. The second person I used from their site worked out well. Making molds for iems is different than for hearing aids, which is what they're used to doing.

Ask how mucht the impressions cost, tell them that you ONLY want the molds.
that is what I did, when I asked for impressions they all sended me al whole pricing list of products :')

If it's still on the website (don't know why they would remove it), read the instructions for molds that you can actually give an audiologist, which will explain what you need. You can tell them from that.

JHAudio (who I plan on ordering from) has a PDF that you can give the audiologist to make sure they do the proper procedure.. and I plan on doing that.. its just trying to people to give me a proper quote so I know where to go is the tricky part... since I can't talk to the audiologist, but the receptionist, I was wondering what to tell those people

Ah but if I ask for molds, then as boomana said, they'll assume its for hearing aids, which is different then for IEMs

I mean impression, English isn't my first language so sorry for the misunderstanding

So was I, I think.
most of the audiologists didn't know what they should charge, so I've got them for pretty cheap I think

Why not go to the company you want to produce your customs? They will deal with audiologists as a matter of course and will be able to direct to a company familiar with your needs, I'm sure.

I believe it is possible to purchase a 'ticket', which involves a single payment for the full process - impressions, molds, IEMs and postage.

Oh no, I've just recognised the real problem, be patient and good luck.

Just tell them all you want is for them to shoot the goo in your ears, and let you have them when it's set. Take the UE/other instructions along, so the audiologist knows exactly where it needs to be shot.

I got exactly the same thing when going to get molds for my sleeks. Try asking for molds for musicians earplugs. Some people sort of seemed to know what the hell I wanted when I said that.

That worries me though because earplugs is to keep sound out, not be built into an IEM.. so I wonder if they'd make them different
