I haven't read all the thread admittedly, but love the enthusiasm. I have one big concern I haven't seen addressed...ear wax. I'd like to think i'm as clean as the next guy, but have had to buy several replacement filters for my E4's. Tell me that in general, the customs came apart so they can be cleaned...please. I think i read they can be cleaned at the factory, but at 1k plus, no down time is acceptable.

If you take a shower every day and keep your ears clean, it's pretty simple to keep customs clean. Use the cleaning tool when you see any ear wax in the sound tubes. Nice thing about the JH13 is that the sound tubes are shorter than others, so they are easier to clean. Just be careful not to poke the filter in the shortest tube.

The bad news is that the IEM's are very tight. Whenever i move my jaw, it sounds like the IEM's is getting sucked in further than it's supposed to. It affects the sound in a very bad way. I had an open mouth impression like instructed just like i did with the UE-10's back in the day. Those fit good.

I will have to send mine back. I don't know if i should send them new impressions or the UE-10's. Anyone have suggestions?

Let me guess, you had your mouth opened really wide when you had the impressions done, right? My right earpiece was tighter than my left earpiece at first (though not uncomfortably tight), but after a few days they were fine. May I suggest that you let JHA know about your problem, but ask them to let you have some extra time to determine whether they really need to be sent back. Of course, if they are very painful, then you pretty much don't have a choice. Just my 2 cents.

I already gave a heads up to JHA. I told them i was willing to try it out for a week or so. I've been wearing them as much as i could.

The thing is, they're very tight on both sides. Everytime i close my mouth or move my head around, the volume of the sound goes down. It doesn't hurt though. It just feels like somebody is pressing up against my ear with his hands. I wouldn't even consider sending them back if all this didn't have an influence on the SQ. The UE-10's arent amazingly comfortable but it has zero affect on the sound.

Yes, refits are often a reality for Customs. But when the fit is perfect, it's well worth the hassle. Only thing is it's worse with the JH13 because you'll miss them that much more after hearing them.

My hands are shaking as I type this post.......

Hahaha, i guess the saying "out of sight, out of mind" doesn't apply here.

Yeah, that sounds like a refit is needed. Believe it or not, I did get the same "sucked in" or "pressing up" feeling you are experiencing maybe once or twice, but not anymore. Maybe my right ear canal had been stretched bigger due to the fact that I listen to my JH13s 8 hours or more daily! Hopefully, you won't have to send them back though.

Any chance that it can be finished by this weekend? Not to rush you but I need to go for a trip the coming Monday and will not able to access the Internet for 10 days. It would be a really big miss if I can't read your review on the day it come out

I've read so many of all kinds: DACs, amps (mostly SS), crazy mods of all sorts, and full-size hp's and iems; but this one, I may actually have to take the time to grind some coffee beans, french press them, and then sit down to sip and enjoy while reading. (Not a fan of popcorn, sorry.) You said at least 5.5 pages in MS Word, right? Wow... I'll start roasting the beans when the sun comes up. They can sit up to a week after roasting, before losing too much freshness. Oh no, didn't mean to give you a due date!

Try Asr's review on the Pico. 12 pages if my memory serves right

My review on the TakeT was 17,000 words or so including forum code. About 35 pages in word at size 12 font.

The longest (and by far and away the single best, utterly outclassing everything else) headphone review is Darth Nuts review of the SR-007. Theres a link to a PDF of it in my signature. Everybody should be required to read it who is in this hobby. It's an education.

I read both and they were both good and concur that the one from Darth was and is truly a master piece.

My right monitor was losing seal too easily, even after trying them for three weeks. I sent them back almost two weeks ago, and I tell you, it's been a long two weeks. I'm afraid this is some type of audio additiction.I hope they come back soon!

YouTube - Behind the Scenes: Ultimate Ears Custom In-ear Monitors Lab

At around the 1:10 mark, the guy in the video mentions that's how they will always know what your original molds were like. Also, check out the 6:50 mark.

Thanks for the link to that video. What they sent me may have been new molds re-made from the silicone casts. They were rubbery and shiny. Seems like UE knows what they are doing, I doubt they would send me something they knew wouldn't fit anymore. I feel better.
