This thread was way too premature.

The impressions for the universal one do exist. I don't think the custom one has come out yet so there should be no impressions of the real one yet. Within 3 weeks there should be some reviews/impressions and I'm one eagerly waiting for it as well.

I saw the other thread too and must say that I admire your vision of using b22 with jh-13. I would love to try it out as well and can't DIY the amp myself.

Just a little wonder: the output of B22 is so large and the IEMs are so sensitive, how do you

1. avoid the hiss?
2. adjust the volume? Would a slight overshot blow our eardrums out

I have tried a few desktop amps that do fine with IEM - such as my Woo WA6, Single Power Square Wave XL, Grahm Slee Solo and Novo demos, Meier HeadFive, , cavalli CTH, Head-direct HiFiMan EF2, etc... The WA6 surprisingly is very good at low volume balance and control.

I used the Lisa III and the Woo 6 with some IEM's and they were fine. Very quite, in fact the Woo 6 had no hiss at all, which surprised me.

Ever since I posted photos of my Ice Blue ES3X's over 2 weeks ago quite a few people seem to want to get the same colour but not the ES3X's, and even the Westone official name Ice Blue is being used to order the JH13 Pro. It'd be nice if at least people acknowledged it's a Westone colour they are talking about/ ordering and give Westone some credit for it.

I wasn't aware Westone had intellectual property rights to that colour and naming.

Westone doesn't, it is a defined color of light blue with other descriptions as to the exact color. It has been around for a long time.

Funny how the term 'Ice Blue' only started to be mentioned/ used exactly right after I posted my ES3X photos and specifically said Westone's official name for it was 'Ice Blue'

Never mind, I'm sure it's all just a figment (surely pigment?) of my imagination.

While Westone does use the color "ice blue" this does not make it an exclusive, nor would any other color choice as in "fire engine red" etc. Again the color choice "ice blue" has been around for a long time, much longer than Westone or any of these other companies.

Just got my ACS custom canal molds for the IE8.
They are too restrictive in the treble so I'll get the 'drilled' a little wider. Certainly sold me on the custom fit IEM route though.

My anticipation on the HD800 has dwindled. They can wait as the ESW10, D7000 and soon to be received HF2 will keep me interested for a while.

I'm now getting the JH13Pro first.

Impressions (first I've had mouth open !) will be made this Friday morning for a mere £15 a pair from a local audiologist.

Colour? I'll think about that over the weekend.

OT - Did any of you guys at CanJam09 see a Phonitor? Thought a few impressions might have been made there.

Regards

Sceptre

Of course I'd heard the term 'Ice Blue' before, but my point was the official term was only used in head-fi, as far as I know, only after I posted said photos and mentioned that specific shade of blue. I certainly hadn't seen it mentioned in the last 7 months.

But I think I've said enough on this.

I can answer both of your questions in 1 shot....use a law gain and a volume pot with a lot of steps
