YMMV, the SR009 are certainly more detailed, but give up way too much in terms of realism. Not interested.

Really? I own both and even that I love my HD800 I think the SR009 is better in all regards specially in the realistic presentation and tones of the instruments and voices... of course based on my taste.

Wow, what to believe, particularly as we all have different brains, different attached ears and different experiences which have embedded our subjective preferences (dare I say prejudices)?  My present take is that Sooloos -> Nuforce DAC 9 -> Seenies HD800 is giving me the absolute best, superb audio on classical recordings I've ever heard in over 50 years of this audio obsession. .  Would the Stax be better?  Not sure I want to know!!

I'm very happy with my system too.  =]  I've haven't ever been more into the music as I am now.

Still, it doesn't stop me from appreciating the finer things.  I enjoy spending time w/ them at friend's houses and micromeets.  And I still have yet to hear the Orpheus.

I would actually get one, but even if I sold all my dynamic gear, I would only come up with half the funds for an SR-009.  Never mind the amp.  It doesn't make sense, I get so much music for the money with the DIY F3 > HD800 combo.  (Cost me something like $1,250 for both, and it's one of the best HD800 amps I've heard, no holds barred.)

Well - I bit the bullet.

One pair of HD800s should be in the mail for me, advertised as "as new", one year old and a pretty good price too!

What MT said.  What amp is this by the way?

If I had your DAC, I might be hesitant to ditch it too...if it's just to go balanced.  It's not every day you hear a Sabre-based DAC with that kind of natural tone.  Good buy.

That dac is going nowhere..unless I buy the upgraded one in the Anedio D2. That is the only dac I would replace it with. There's just too much guess work if I buy a dac at this level and I already know I like the D1 so the natural step is the D2.

I'm thinking of getting the Mjolnir amp. Lee kept talking about it and got me to do some reading on that big thread about it and I think I may just bite the bullet on that. It's around the same price as my V200 and I could just do a comparison of the two before deciding and of course Schiit has that 15 day return policy if it comes to that.

Had to screenshot and post pictures of my response because my work's wifi is ridiculously stupid.

I say kidding, because I'm honestly not sure.  As I said, it was a prototype unit so I wouldn't feel comfortable passing judgement...but...since it's a relatively new player in the market, I personally would probably feel more comfortable betting that large a sum of money on the BHSE, at least with what's known about both amps at this point in time (in terms of impressions).  Hopefully it works out great though.  And it sounds like you'll get to compare directly to the prototype at your next meet.

Has anyone hardwired there HD800s to bypass the connector?

Robert from Aphroditecu29.com has his hardwired with his Zeus cable. I did a comparison of his headphones and mine with just the Zeus with connectors and there was a slight difference for the better in the hardwired. I did not want to loose the advantage of the connectors so what we did was to replaced the little (tiny) internal wire that goes from the connector to the driver with a wire from the Zeus cable. Thatworked pretty good and got me almost at the same level of the hardwired version.

The internal wire replaced is really small awg and SPC.

The difference between the hardwire and not in the hE-6 is bigger. I think it is becuase the connector use in the HE-6 is not very good and the one used in the HD800 is much better.

Hi, just to reiterate, I'm having very fine results with the Apex Enigma HD800 cable, even more so now that it's breaking in.
It targets the analytical, slightly thin sound and not fully fleshed-out images, and a bit of dryness (to my ears with 2 pairs so far, the latest serial 133xx).
All those areas are very much improved without roll off. Now that some break in has happened, the great deep/wide sound stage is there in all its glory.
Other cables I tried added needed warmth, but the Apex cable does this in a more refined way, creating a kind of glow and bloom in vocals and instruments,
and some nice resonance, especially in piano, something I always look for.
Now it is different but more or less on par with my Stax 009s.

Good to know - He has my T1's now - they are getting ZEUSED.

You will like them more with the Zeus. Those were my first Zeus headphones. Actually the ones in the pictures in his website are my T1. First ever headphones with the Zeus cable.
