Have not heard the Westone 3s but will at CanJam. the Shures do not have enough treble detail for me. I am not an analytical type but appreciate a bit more natural balance. Now if your recordings have hot treble as most CDs these days the Shures my be fine. But you listen to Porcupine Tree and system of a Down and they are not bad recordings.
Hope this helps, but remember it is only one persons opinion.

oh great so all denon iem's are way too bright?
do they eventually even out or are they always too bright,,,
i have the c710 and while it sound good and rich, the highs are way too forward and piercing my ears,, also they are generallly much louder than any other iem that i have causing me too adjust voil while comparing every other iem with them.......... i did prefer the c710 tioo the audio technica cks70 which i thought was totally lacking in the upper mids and lower and upper highs,,,,, leaving it with a muffled almost filtered sound..... the c710 was opposite at least in the trble and upper sections,,
will along burn in even out the highs for the c710, or how did this work with your other denon iem's? seems u know those well
