I put my 4p's away for a week and listened again. Insertion was a bit difficult at first, the glider tips have stiffened a bit...

But when I picked the headphones up I noticed they smell like... I can't really describe. Horrible! It's the glider tips, they're not so easy to clean well and they don't last that long without smelling like my socks.

What rubber replacement do you have in mind which would go as deep as the gliders go, are the same size and fit, sound as good (they sound amazing! really really defined and full base, crystal clear trebles, less mids. like ER-4 on steroids)? I want rubber instead of foam/semi foam so it's cleanable.

I suppose the Klipsch gels would be best for fit etc. I did like the gliders for comfort and greater soundstage but found they wierded the midrange out and made the treble shrill. Personally I use Shure black olives with 3-4 mm spacers cut from the rubber between flanges on the triflanges.

Well, with a name that sounds like a kind of lubricant, what did you expect?

They really don't bring out midrange and the treble is exaggerated . The bass is amazing.
I'm quite fond of it

If you're using the shure black olives, you mean that the klipsch gels sound and feel like the gliders? that's why you don't use klipsches?

I have never tried the gels as I don't think they can be bought loose, I just thought of them when you said rubber rather than foam and other people say they are really good for the Ety's.

Get a bucket of horse manure, put that next to your chair. You'll no longer notice smelly phone tips.

OH! I forgot i got these shures for my previous er-6i.

I'll try them now.

Edit: YES! Perfect.. Fits more easily, doesn't create vaccum. Sounds wounderfully balanced, pleasent and fun.

Bass isn't as much, but it's there in the ety way.

Thanks guys, for reminding me of old bought tips.

I have used the Gliders and liked them, but I had an extra set of the large Klipsch gels, and they worked GREAT - sound good (I didn't notice any wierdness in the midrange, and the highs sounded the same as the gliders - like ER-4P highs...) and fit more comfortably than the Gliders. I remember hearing from somebody that the Gels will soon be available separately - I hope so, I think they could sell a BUNCH.
