Hello everybody, I'm new to this and I was wondering if you all could help me choose my first pair of good headphones I've ever owned.

I'm going to use the headphones for portable use (mainly my ipod classic, but cd player as well sometimes). I don't have any amps to use it with so I'll be using it straight from the source to the headphones. I have a preference to wanna get the headphones that fit all the way over your ear because I have friends with them and I liked how they sounded/felt.

I've done some research and I have read that Grado's are more for rock music and stuff so I think I am going to shy away from them. My main styles of music I listen to are:

60% - Drum N Bass & Deep Trance (Ed Rush & Optical, High Contrast, Dillinja, Andy C)
30% - Hip Hop (Young Jeezy, Big L, Trick Daddy, 2pac)
10% - Hardcore/Metal (Parkway Drive, The Devil Wears Prada, Protest The Hero, Death)

The main thing that I am looking for is good sound quality. I like good lows that don't drown out the mids/highs but still have nice clean bass. I also like good mids/highs that cut nicely through the bass. Comfortability is probably my second concern considering I don't wanna have bruised ears from the headphones or anything. Another thing is i'm trying to stay around the $100U.S. range.. I don't mind going up to about 130 but that's the highest I would like to go.

A couple pairs I have read reviews about that I'm considering are:
Denon AH-1001K

Sennheiser HD280pro

Sony MDR-V700DJ

Somebody told me about the Shure SRH240 coming out soon and if you know anything about that one, input would be much appreciated.

If you have any input as to these headphones or any other headphones you think may be good for the best quality for the music and the price range I'm looking for i would greatly appreciate it! Thank you in advance!
