REVIEW: Musical Paradise MP-301 Tube Headphone / Speaker amp - Page 5

Actually yes - I am using it currently with speakers, the small but not particularly efficient B&W DM601. And the sound is startling good, as long as you don't try for rock concert levels.

I would say the MP-301 is the best "tubey" sounding amp under $300, yes.

has anyone compared this to other small speaker/headphone integrated amps, maybe like the dared mp5?

I've been trying to connect to the Musical Paradise website, but I get a "can't connect to host" error. Does anyone know how these can be purchased?

Hello Skylab,
Thanks for your impartial review. I appreciate for your work.

I love B&W speakers personally. It sounds full and very musically. I am currently using an old 805 matrix. It sounds great. I wish to buy a pair of 684 or CM7 at the end of this year. I still prefer floor speakers for better bass impact.

The dared mp5 is not a pure tube amp. It uses IC or discrete S.S power output.

12AX7 is just a preamp tube. For sure it canot output 13W. 6E2 in Chinese is called "Cat eye" a volume display tube.

What a high price tag $550.

I can't comment on the sound since I haven't listened to it yet.

It's self auto biasing design. Don't need manual adjustment.

Anyone knows how this amp compares with the Little dot mkII?
And how does it sound with Senn HD6x0?
Hello Miloxo,

Little dot mkII uses 6H6N and EF95 tubes. Hard to get excellent NOS replacement since they're not common tubes comparing to 6AK5/6AU6 and 6V6.

I don't want to say anything more. Please do some self research first.

???

The Russian 6Н6П or 6N6P is common enough, and EF95 = 6AK5.
Thanks for correction. EF95 = 6AK5.

I should say 6Н6П (6N6P) doesn't have US NOS such as RCA.

Hey I just got the amp in today, I'm having issues though. The music becomes distorted in mids and lows after I play the 2nd or 3rd song through it, the first 5 mins sound fine but after that everything gets distorted. Currently using it with DT770-80's atm. It does the same thing with my grado sr60's too. Any thoughts?

(Ok Idk what i did but it went away eventually, could it be the crappy oem chinese tubes?)

first unit I recieved had a problem with one of the channels cutting out. Garry was pretty responsive and got me a replacement which has been fine. It's a great little amp for my computer paired with some tekton speakers. New tubes are a must though IMHO.

wow 200 that is crazy might have to read up on it.
