I have been using CK7s in the gym and for that purpose they are perfect. I find them much better balanced than CX300s or Metro-Fi2s (yes, its a while since I bought any!).

For more serious listening I use ER-4S, which I think are close to perfect. However I want to get a pair of canal phones (i.e. minimal insertion) for knocking around. I will most likely just get another set of CK7s but I thought I would check to see if there are any new phones that might be an improvement.

I am after a well balanced, detailed sound. Most canal phones are far to bass heavy. The CK7s even are a tad dark for my tastes but are pretty good for the price and form factor. The ER-4S are perfect but I want something that requires less insertion.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

SQ wise, the RE2s would seem appropriate, but i don't know if they're really for knocking around... i have the RE1s, microphonics are not very good and i already had to have them replaced once... how about Nuforce NE-8?

I upgraded from the CK7s to the PFEs and have been very satisfied.
