Hey guys, I'm considering upgrading to either a DT990/HD650, and plan to buy the FUBAR III DAC/Amp combo. I'm new with amps and DACs, so is there any advice or tips on how to hook it up? I have a decent sound card (X-Fi Xtremegamer), so how would I go about hooking up the headphones to my computer? Is the amp necesary? I don't think the HD650 will even fit into my sound card, so do I have to plug it into the FUBAR III? Also, how does the FUBAR plug into the computer? Is it just a USB cable that can only play my music libraries or can I use it to hear everything on my computer, for example Games or whatever sounds are playing. Thanks for any help, hope I'm not too noobish

You will just need to plug the Fubar in the computer with USB and it will appear as a soundcard. To plug your HD650 in the amp, you might need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter if the output on the fubar is 1/8". It's pretty easy, just plug n play !

The dac can be use as any soundcard, the only think is that it might not be as good with games ( you will lose some feature from your soundcard like surround and other technologies specific for games ).

I also have an X-Fi (Extreme Music) and I use my soundcard for games with the 3d positioning technology and I use my dac/amp for music. I also use different headphones as my HD650s aren't driven very well by my soundcard but it's not unbearable if you want to.

I just received a Fubar III and I am very impressed. Lovely smooth sound and power to spare. I do not listen critically when I'm on the laptop but this unit gives me everything I need and more. Very under-rated in my opinion. Excellent value and great build quality!

the DAC in the fubar3 sounds really crappy, and the RCA out is controlled by the volume pot as well.

the fubar4 could be an option but the USB chip is from C-Media, duh.

I think you'd better get an audinst.
