Ok so I turned on my system the other day, my entire setup is listed in my signature, and I noticed that I had to turn the volume up all the way until the knob would not turn anymore to get my speakers to a "listenable" level. Listenable being described as loud enough that the person in an adjacent room would hear it but not nearly earsplitting volume. The way I have it connected is comp to dac then I use my adcom gtp 500II pre as the source selector which gives a line level recording out to the woo audio 3 which ultimately controls all the volume going to an adcom gfa 545II amp. What is happening here? How am I loosing volume? I emailed Jack from Woo asking if the tubes were going bad and he said that it would be a long shot to suspect that and that it might be the zero dac instead. Anybody have any suggestions? Or even how I could go about testing me equipment to find the culprit?

Check windows mixer.

I tried that as well and the windows volume was as loud as it can go, foobar was also set to the max.

What about wave?

have you tried removing equipment from the equation and seeing if that jacks the volume back up? are all of your connections firm?

so far yes I have tried each of your suggestions without any success. not sure about the wave though, if you could tell me how to find that I'll give it a try. i really appreciate all the help though.
