I have had these bad boys for a little over three weeks now, so I can give a fairly reliable account. I was initially very impressed with these, but that wow factor has somewhat dissipated. By all accounts, these are good sounding, very accurate(file sibilence and other artifacts become quite noticeable), and well isolating iems, but I have noticed some flaws:

-Microphonics are quite pronounced with these.
-One head-fi'r described these has having a somewhat "thin" sound. I would have to agree with this
-BASS, BASS, BASS, where oh where is the bass, I underestimated how much I need punchy bass, and these deliver the punch of a 7 year old girl.
-I love these iems for jazz, classical, and non bassy music, but they leave a bit to be desired for hip hop and other music with a present low frequency

When I first got these, I said they sound as good as my four year old Sennheiser HD-25-I. Not even close!! My Hd-25's blow these out the water.

On an unrelated note, I got brand new pads for my hd-25's and man o' man do these things rock. I can feel the bass pounding my ear drums

, and the isolation is back as well.

All in all, I am pleased with my purchase, but if anything realize that bass is important. With that being said, I wish I went for the NE-7m, but these will do just fine for the time being.

I haven't heard the RE2, but the NE-7M does have the bass you are looking for -- not that muddy, boomy CX300 bass -- tight, punchy, bass with good extension down to rumbly regions!
