i read something on here a while back about someone in japan that'd recable shure ear buds, but i can't seem to find anything now.

or would anyone for that matter know of someone or some place to recable a pair of buds?

after 2 years, my se530's cables have stiffened so hard that when I went to put them on the other morning as i was heading out for work, the right buds cable cracked 4 times exposing the wire

Have you tried contacting Shure about replacing them? I've seen varied reports here on how that goes. Some folks report that Shure requires proof of purchase before they will replace them; others had success even w/o the receipt. And even if yours are now out of warranty, Shure may very well replace them because this is a known issue and they redesigned the cables on the SE530s to try to correct the problem.

I've contacted shure canada, but for some reasonthey dont do repairs in canada :S

I was directed to contact their US office to go further. But simply sending the package to and from, shipping costs, possible duty fees. Let alone repair costs if I have to pay. Would be sort of insane.

Yes they do. I've gotten mine repaired twice. SF Marketing (?) handles the repairs in Montreal i believe.
