This is probably in the wrong place, heck, it might not be allowed?

Anyways, I'm quite interested in getting a portable amp for my 6G ipod > NE-7Ms. Now, as a student my spending money is very limited so I'd like to get the right amp the first time. I'm wondering if there's anyone in my area that has any of the amps on my list:

headsix, XXS, or 3MOVE
Mini3
iBasso (any model)
But I'll happily try any others in that <$250 price range

I go to school in Kalamazoo, MI and occasionally find myself taking I-94 back to my parents' place NW, about 10 miles up Woodward Ave from downtown Detroit. So cities like Grand Rapids, Jackson, Ann Arbor or any place in the metro-Detroit area I could get to fairly easily. Is there an area of the forum I haven't found yet for this kind of thing? I haven't quite gotten a feel for the importance of keeping personal information private on here, but it's worth a shot. The other forums I use are pretty open about these things. So PM me if you'd be willing to let me drop by or meet somewhere and test your gear for a few minutes - that would be excellent!

If you're asking me, I have no idea - hence the interest. I'm actually looking to pick up a used one if possible

Yea you'll definitely get better results putting that money towards a better set of IEMs than an amp. An amp will prolly just give you're Nuforces a better bass control, they're not very hard to drive earphones so i dont think you'll get anywhere near a 150$ difference in SQ, and for around 150-200$ you can get a really sweet sounding set of IEMs or cans that'll sound great out of your ipod.

But in either case i just got a mini3 and now that i have a LOD cable my atrios sound ridiculous! So i'm very happy with the mini3, make sure to save some money for a LOD cable (i paid about 20$ for mine), so for around 150$ mini3 plus cable you can't go wrong!

Many manufacturers have an awesome return policy that is meant to facilitate just this sort of exercise. I'm not sure whether or not the ones you mentioned do this, but I'm sure it's worth investigating.

I just sent an LOD to kalamazoo, so yeah there's people around your area. maybe post in the members lounge. but I would agree that you are best served to spend you money on IEM's than an amp worth that much for those headphones. spend most money on headphones, then source then amp and after that upgrade your interconnects. unless you just want yto upgrade once and be done with it for a while?? but if you buy a decent amp for your NE7; I guarantee you will be hankering for new HP in no time. the amp and LOD will reveal shortcomings in your headphones. but great headphones will reveal weakness in your source too. they will still sound great as long as the are easy enough to drive
