I just paid $40 for a D-515 service manual. Things are changing at Sony. It used to be easier and less expensive to get manuals like this. The delivery time is 6-8 weeks. And it's not even guaranteed that I will get one. I saw one on the German or French (can't remember which) Ebay a while back for like $3.00, but the international shipping and payment would likely have increased that price to nearly this level anyway.

I want to also buy service manuals for the D-321 and D-311, but $40 is nearly the price of a D-321 and I'm hesitant about spending the $40 on the D-311 manual. I want to have these manuals so that I can open up these players with confidence and so that I can lend them (or print up a copy) to a repair center fixing one of them. I ordered some manuals for my DAT players recently and they actually are pretty nice, but not worth $40. I think those manuals cost me $15 to $20 each. What bothers me the most about this is that if the manuals are this hard to get I don't even want to think about how hard it is to get parts for it.
