Sorry for being ignorant, Im a bit of a newbie.

My cat ate the wires of my V-Moda Vibes the other night so Im on a quest to buy a new set of IEs cause my AKG 271s are way too big for commuting, plus the bass is alittle too aenimic(spl?). I've narrowed it down to UE SuperFi 5Pros. Im using a 3G Ipod for now an plan to use the Line Out with an Amp.

Would I need to have an amp right away to drive the UEs or can i use them by themselves for the time being? Eventually I'm looking to get a p-51 Mustang or a Portaphile amp for portablility/commuting purposses. I assume the P51 is alot smaller.

Thanks

You can use them without an amp, just plug them into the headphone socket.

In my case ( iPod Classic with lossless files ) the LOD+amp combination makes a big difference using my UE Triple.fi's but the UE IEM's are not exactly shabby unamped.

I've never used them so I can't say.

You could read the very large portable amp review that's on this forum, then I would suggest trying them out yourself if you can.

You wouldn't need an amp in no way or form

You can power them and have great SQ strat from the headphone jack.

BUT
If you have the extra cash laying around and want to have better SQ, you can get a small, portable amp to power it and hook it up with a LOD.
But this would make the thing a lot larger and possibly too large to fit in your pocket :/
