O.K., maybe this is an easy answer, but I'm not seeing it in a search.

I'd like to download some of the 96kHz/24 bit FLAC files that are out there for purchase. I would like to play these with more than just the computer, such as my SA-8001, in the car, other standard CD players, etc.
What needs to be done ?

Cheers,
Jeff

Take the files and open them in a sound editor program such as Audacity or Cool Edit Pro or similar and save (export) them as 16 bit 44.1 KHz PCM WAV files. Then burn them to Audio CD using your favourite CD burning software.

EDIT FooBar does this conversion as well, right click on a track and choose Convert ...Convert to ....Wav.

Make sure your output format is 16 bits
File...Preferences...Output....Output Data Format .... 16 Bits
