Picked up Acadia Strain's latest album on vinyl tonight. Found out my store WILL have Fall of Ideals, but NOT New American Gospel on Record Store Day...

Disappointed.

I hate saying this but I totally 100% agree with AMG's editorial on this:

Black Sabbath is not relevant TODAY. Kinda like Metallica. Legends once, had a profound effect on the music industry, metal specifically. Not TODAY.

Ozzy's voice is completely shot. I saw them on the THEIR first reunion tour and for christ's sake, it was shot back then.

The reunion and album is a complete farce in every way without Bill Ward. This is simply a cash grab. That's my 2 cents.

On that note, I am seeing Baronness and Ghost so at any moment I suspect Negakinu to take away my black metal privileges (or at least suspend them).

I still think it may be a great record. I would rather give it the chance. In many ways Sabbath were changing and lost their way even after their 4th record. We haven't had a proper Sabbath record since the mid 1970s.

Still it's important when the metal grand- fathers put something out. It will be an album I like.

It looks like the single song"God Is Dead?" will be released April 19th. At almost 9 minutes long it will be a taste of what is to come in the album.

I think when I do get into vinyl, The Jester Race will be the first record I track down. F*ing love that album.

I reviewed the vinyl edition for our Classic Wax series at Metal-Fi. Just be aware, it's a picture disc and the sonic upgrade over the fairly well produced original CD isn't that big. You can definitely hear the bass more, and there's a bit more width and depth to the stereo image. The cymbals to my ears actually seemed a bit pushed back in the mix compared to the CD, but they sounded more natural and less "processed." That's really about it. Considering a good copy will cost you $100+, IMO it's not really worth it.

Just heard the single on the radio. Actually I quite like it...Ozzys definitely burnt out but for a bunch of really, really old burnouts it's pretty awesome to hear

Really? My song of the year. I guess I'm an old burn-out too?

I quite liked it, but Ozzy doesn't sound as good. He sounds sort of uninterested, and the performance reminds me of karaoke. I'm missing the passion!

Well if you have ever been to an Ozzfest he reads all the words off a monitor too. When I was at one they sprayed all this soap foam everywhere for a stage effect and even had a stagehand who was in charge of cleaning the monitor so Ozzy could read the lyrics.

They are old for Gods sake. But I still feel the passion in the song. I also love the bass line. It's them really. No one else could make that song. I fricken love it. Now I'll stop talking about it. Lol
