Headphoneus Supremus
Sorry about that Redcar, yes I should have read more carefully. I'm an unabashed Priest fan. I've never actually listened to Nostradamus after the reviews at the time. I thought Redeemer of Souls was decent.
I used to have this compilation-Hero, Hero back in the day. It was Rocka Rolla and most of Sad Wings-but I should picked up Sad Wings digitally at some point. And probably Stained Glass.
I bought their Metology anthology a few years ago which is pretty extensive.
Sin After Sin was the first Priest I bought which I never actually loved. But, I spent a lot of time with British Steel, Unleashed in the East (Green Manalishi and Diamonds and Rust baby!), Screaming for Vengence. But, I probably logged in more hours with Defenders of the Faith than anything else. Those four are my favorite. I think I was losing interest to newer metal by the time Pain Killer came out-it seemed silly to me at the time-but a classic album too.
It is actually called Stained Class.
But don't know if you remember Priest Live!
It was recored in 1986 and came out as a laser disk, a two double album, CD and cassette plus VHS. The show included with Turbo 30 was recorded in 86 too but sounds even better to me?
But they have put out a lot of live stuff.
Touch of Evil came out after Angel Of Retribution. I still think they sound best on this Turbo 30 set?
It's safe to say Nostadamus was a failure too for them. I paid $100 for my box set and now they sell for $30 or less. But I really think Nostradamus is amazing.
Priest have always been about new sounds. Listening to British Steel in the late 1970s was like audiophile metal. No one did what they did with studio effects in metal. I still think Nostradamus is a continuation of that innovation. But yes, many of my friends hate the album.
For me I just seem to like everything now days. If you listen to Locked In or Out In The Cold, I bet you'll like those songs now. They play those and Turbo Lover live most of the time. Painkiller was an album I too was not into when it came out. Still the stuff they put out when Halford was not the vocalist seems to be the darkest era?

Speaking of Halford there is a tape out there when Halford sang for Sabbath when they needed a vocalist in a jam. I'm just curious to hear that one. I'll find it some day.
