Been loving Blind Guardian's Beyond the Red Mirror - WOW! What other albums would be in this kind of power vein?

Power metal favorites:

Seventh Wonder

Ancient Bards - A New Dawn Ending

I enjoyed Epica's latest album too (which was a first) but I'm sure you've heard of them.

  New BTBAM track!

That's sounding pretty good.  I've been a fan of them after seeing them on the same night as Russian Circles, both opening for Coheed.

New album Path Of The Adversary by black metal / dark ambient band Noctis available for free download here:

https://noctis.bandcamp.com/album/path-of-the-adversary

Back in 2007 when I was preparing to start a record label, Noctis' debut was going to be the first release, but things didn't work out due to losing thousands in a fiasco. I didn't do much promotion for it, yet bands from all over the world would send me free copies of their demos and albums. I even talked to members from some relatively well-known metal bands, such as Richard Lederer (from Summoning, Ice Ages, Die Verbannten Kinder Evas) and Tharen (from Abigor, Amestigon, Dargaard, Dominion III), about re-releasing some of their harder to find material on my future label.

I still want to have a digital music store (specializing in unreleased soundtracks from movies, television series, video games, etc., but also selling normal albums) someday.

Elegies Vol. I by Noctis is the best dark ambient release I've ever heard.

Here is the first track. Gets super creepy later on in the piece.

@BLACKENEDPLAGUE and other Xasthur fans:

Interestingly, the guy behind Noctis had a side project called Cerberus that did a split with Nostalgia. I mention this because Mark Hunter of Nostalgia performed on some Xasthur albums.

I used to talk to the drummer of Dry Spell all the time. He told me how he got to hang out with Wrest of Leviathan a few times. I was also pretty close with Grond, the vocalist/guitarist of Dry Spell. He hung himself Halloween 2004. It was shocking because nothing like that had ever happened to anyone else I knew, and we were joking around just the day before...

And since I'm telling random stories here... I am also friends with Thorn from Benighted In Sodom, if anyone's heard of that band. Such a prolific discography. He is also in the black/death metal band Ævangelist, which is more popular.

Mind telling where this came from? I am interested.

So sorry I don't remember. I did see them in a small club in 2005, they sound different live. The file is just sitting in my computer, hence no original CD.

 Found it after a web search. It is a fan recording, only a fan would love.

One of the things I hate is that Metalcore gets overlooked because all the scene bands that have the skills of a good teenage band that plays in their garage. Theres A LOT of good core bands, like Sylosis, Killswitch Engage, Miss May I (first 2 albums, their vocalist's voice got weaker throughout his career, while everything else in the band improved.), Trivium, Breakdown Of Sanity (They use some electronica, but they're kinda light on it and its not often. Vocals are nice however), and many more I have yet to discover. But the terrible, mediocre bands like Bring Me The Horizon, Black Veil Brides, and Pierce The Veil get the spotlight for some strange reason.

Simple, they are products. These bands are the metal version of one direction and such.
