I'm actually new to Bloodbath-one of various holes in my metal knowledge fiefdom-I've got many of those ...too much music, so little time
confused_face(1).gif
. But, I'm down with the old school f'ugly vibe...much more than a lot of more modern techy stuff. I'll take atmosphere, sludge, grit and sweat over wonky noodling most days of the week.

i really like the new bloodbath....the new trap them is good too, but a little repetitive as a full album.   i have to agree, i generally prefer the old school hardcore vibe to melo-death (of any era to be honest).  in a metallized-punk vein (vs. punkized metal LOL) i've been listening to Obliterations - Poison Everything, and in a total blackened crust punk i'm really digging the new Young and in the Way - When Life Comes to Death

You're right about Trap Them being a little repetitive by the end of listening to the whole album. I just dig their whole sound a whole lot so I don't care

You've always got some new stuff I've never heard of. Luv it! I'll check those out.

Got around to ordering/watching the Between the Buried and Me Live at the Fidelitorium Blu Ray. It was disappointing in a few ways. First the video is 24hz(as opposed to 23.976 which is the NTSC standard), but it is also MPEG-2(as opposed to h264 like most BDs). Then comes the audio, rather than being lossless DTS-HD MA or even LPCM they used stereo Dolby Digital at 192kbps!!!!! I think all three of these things just show that Metal Blade doesn't have a clue as to how to author a blu ray and should be ashamed, and probably do a better job outsourcing next time.

Anyways, the performance itself is absolutely amazing, and all foibles aside I would highly encourage ya'lls to watch it.

an interesting comparison of the original CD release, the CD of the live performace and then a rip of the BD's audio

Can anyone recommend me any metal tracks about breaking up, lies, cheating, lost love, angst etc?

My ex was into metal but I can't really remember the names of the bands he was into apart from Capture the Crown and Suicide Silence.

Thanks! :)

Edit: videos like this are perfect

Thanks!

I wish that track was from the point of view of a girl to a boy though, but still good

I know one more

Edit: This is a very interesting song. Lambesis, wrote the song. Assuming he wrote it for his wife in 2003 and ten years later he was charged with an attempt to murder her. Now that is metal!!!

I was soooooooo close to buying the re-mastered vinyl version of YOBs Catharsis today.
Good thing I remembered this article on my way to the checkout.

http://www.metal-fi.com/cathartic-compression/

Pulled out my phone, skimmed through this little "rant" and put the LP back.
Thanks, Alex, you saved me $25 today.
