^ Pomegranate tiger's album this year was fantastic. Got it a short while ago and have jammed it. Favorite track is probably maxims so far.

Got some tickets to see Devin Townsend later in the year, totally pumped for it!

Been listening to a fair bit of Anciients, Dark Tranquility, Paysage D'Hiver, Beastwars, Stratovarius, Dir En Gray, Satan, Holy Grail, Ufomammut, Soilwork, Secrets of the Moon, Lord Mantis and Portal recently.

Favorite so far is the new Satan one, not sure if it has been mentioned already? Classic 80s melodic heavy metal. Not very heavy though.

Pomegranate Tiger

Damn.

That is good. Like really ******* good. Going to be an immediate album buy for me. Don't even have to listen to any other songs. Thanks.

That opening riff is so catchy. Liked it.

You've got some awesome stuff there. I really liked Lord Mantis and the two Oro UFOmammut releases from last year. I don't hear that much about UFOmammut-but for stoner-spacy-electronic ambient-heavy sludgy doom-I love their stuff. Too many adjectives there....

Lord Mantis nailed it for me-great song writing, HAF, a little sludge, a little Black Metal; a little proggy-dirty and nasty. Just really ticked a lot of my metal boxes.

This is one of those bands I got to know years ago and pretty much forgot until seeing them at a festival a few days ago.

(Video is pretty **** sound quality, but on the album itself its decent)

Great 70's, Sabbath/Stoner-ish stuff.

Some other great songs off of the same album are "How Heavy This Axe", "Fire Lances Of The Ancient Hyperzephyrians" and "To Take The Black". And yes the last one is about Game of Thrones :D

Ah, The Sword. "How Heavy This Axe" is IMO one of the best retro-stylized videos ever. :-)
