What IEMs are my options if I like SoundMagic PL30 *TIPS*??

Comfort is #1 when it comes to portable headphones or IEMs for me. Unfortunately, I've only tried so many IEM tips. I dislike the iM716 black long foam and the tri-flange thing. I really liked the one that it is on the SoundMagic PL30, though (much less pressure/force in my ear; I don't feel like I have something stuffed in my ear, constantly putting force on the circumference of my ear canal, etc.). Based on this, what other tips do you think I'd like and -> What other headphones should I look into based on these tips?

Oh, sonic preferences: Fast, *airy*, detailed sound w/ largest soundstage possible. Want some bass presence in there as well! I listen to trance stuff mostly.

I would try Comply tips on the IM716 you already own - perhaps with a low gain amp. Or, make your own tips from the foam ear plugs of your choice. Your post actually confuses me - are you looking to buy new tips or new 'phones? You do know that on many IEMs you can use different tips - including ones from different brands - right? That's one of the things I like about my UM1 - they can take darn near any kind of tip on the market.

I'm looking for new IEMs. I just haven't tried many tips so I don't know what IEMs to look for. I knew you could interchange tips, but I thought some work much better than others due to physical design reasons of each IEM. Are you saying that you could put *ANY* tip on the ER-4P or Westone UM1 and it (the comfort that the tip would normally provide on its native IEM) would work just fine?

I was thinking of getting the UM1 but those beige tips look incredibly uncomfortable. However, if the smaller, non-foamy tips that are used in the SoundMagic PL30s can be used, then I could reconsider!

I think you are right but unfortunately I don't have much experience to recommend certain IEMS. I do believe that certain IEMS have different builds and while you can fit most tips on other ones not all will fit properly so you do need to take size of the IEM and such into account....so it is best to find a similar size IEM for tip purposes.

that's an older version, now they ship with grey complyfoams
and perhaps they LOOK uncomfortable, they are way better than the PL-30's tips
oh and they're not compatible, it's possible to use Shure tips on them

Comfort is subjective, so you saying they are way better doesn't mean I'll find the much better. I personally don't want any type of foam tip (I like the silicon or whatever material that the PL-30s are made out of).

The last line confuses me. Could you re-phrase it? What is not compatible? It is possible to use Shure tips on what (or what is it not possible to use Shure tips on what? You say something is not compatible, and then saying it's possible to do something, which is confusing)?
