Which Headphones?

Hi. I am looking for a set of headphones that are:


-inexpensive
-single corded (meaning the cord only comes out at one side)
-comfortable

That's about it. Can anyone recommend me a model?

I think if you specify a price range, more people might be able to help you. As well as some more preferences such as closed/open? What you need it for etc.

-Closed/open doesn't matter for me.
-under $100 for price (USD).
-lightweight
-still comfortable when only listening in one ear (so I guess monitors)
-single entry cord
-long cord if possible

That really narrows down the choices to only two models (I am assuming a street price, not MSRP, of $100 or less):
  1. Sony MDR-V6 or MDR-7506 (same headphone, except that the V6 has a nickel-plated plug versus the gold-plated one on the 7506)
  2. Sennheiser HD 280 Pro

The HD 280 Pro is slightly heavier and bulkier than the V6 or 7506. And neither headphone is particularly lightweight - but rather medium-weight. Otherwise, the truly lightweight headphones that have a swivel cup that allows one-ear monitoring all have that annoying dual-entry cord that goes into each earpiece. And the lightweight headphones that have a single-entry cord don't swivel enough to allow one-eared monitoring.

And don't confuse the MDR-V6 for the newer and infinitely inferior MDR-V600.

Okay, then, there are two other headphones that I would recommend trying out, if the one-eared monitoring isn't important:
  1. Beyerdynamic DT231
  2. AKG K141S (not the K141M)

KSC-35 or portapro/sportapro (depending on how you feel about over the ear clips). I'd recommend an SR-80 except you mentioned the word "comfort"

edit: I forgot about the one sided cord. In that case I don't have any suggestions.

the senn 495s have that one cord thing ... also the hd590's have the single cord but would outta your price range ...
hd280 sounds good, so does the sony mdr v6's. look in the gear for sale and do some research on this site .. im sure a simple search would reveal a couple dozen choices ...

Yeah, xtreme4099, but the 495s are also extremely power-hungry. So you'll need one heck of an amp in order to properly drive those 'phones.
