Hi all! I'm almost out of blank CD-Rs and I have been doing my homework on the things. I've decided to go with Tayo Yuden, unbranded, spindle packs of 100, 80 minute CD-Rs with cynanine dye. This one is recommended for my Plextor PlexWriter PX-W4824TU drive. I've only got two places bookmarked to do my shopping: Media Supply and National Audio Company. I checked with resellerratings.com and there is hardly any substantive information about these merchants.

So, I was wondering where YOU guys and gals do your shopping for blank CD-R/RW discs or DVD +/- R/RW/RAM discs. It seems that every time I click on an associated link, there are more merchants but their reputation is questionable at best. I've been doing my research on merchants but there is are many and much confusion is abound (at least to me). Who can I can trust to buy a boatload (200) of blank Tayo Yuden CD-Rs. By the way, I will need these CD-Rs by next Friday when Ahead releases NERO 6 Ultra.

I know you already had your "which media" thread, but after many dead CDR's here, have used Mem Black and not lost one since. Also I think they're rated for 100 years. Can pick those up in lots of places.

Shouldn't branded TYs do just as good as unbranded TYs?

There are tons of deals on taiyo yuden(IDable by 'made in japan' or the special screwon spindlecover) disks that are branded, like Kodak, Fujifilm, HP, etc.

I just use whatever pops up here that is verifiably TY.

personally, I just look in the ads and get whatever's free after rebates, that's how I got about 500 CD-R's for about $2 (for postage)

Fuji's are all TY, they have a VERY good reputation with fast rebates(some companies take 6 months to return rebates on stuff like this, some never do), and you can get 90 for $6 here:

I also get that Fuji rebranded Taiyo Yuden locally from places like Best Buy when there are deals. I have enough to last me for a while. I don't burn very many CDs anymore.

Locally, usually: check Comp USA, Best Buy, Circuit City, Micro Center, Staples, Office Depot, and buy the cheapest. Usually cheaper than mailorder, even with taxes.

There's a nice rebate on a TDK 50-pack of CD-R from Staples (ending August 2)... it winds up to be less than 3 dollars.

sams club is great verbatic 100-pack spindles cheap (seen 'em for $30, I think), and you can get 20 packs with jewel cases, great for music.

Atm I'm using primarily Verbatim Datalife Plus (Silver/Azo) 74m blanks, and have had excellent luck with these + my Plexwriter 24/10/40A burner.
