And v2 doesn't work yet, tmk. Check the Rockbox wiki, as I think it explains how to find out what version you have.

Thanks, I had v1, a Woot! refurb.

Me too and my e270 was rockboxed in less than 3 minutes. It works like a charm, except that the hardware sucks so much that even with rockbox, I hate to listen to it.

I was not listening to it for the whole time as I forgot to switch it off when I came in and it was still playing a few hours later.

now that's good news. i was considering getting rid of my CF modded rockboxed ipod mini for a 30 gig ipod video and CF modding/rockboxing it. i too thought that the battery life after rockboxing an ipod video was pretty poor, however if it can make it 8-10 hours of near continuous, then that'd be perfect for me.

Is that with the latest build? Apparently, the "randomly turn on and waste your battery while you're asleep" bug was fixed about two months ago.

I use 3.0, isn't 3.1 out? Would that increase the battery life?

I love rockbox. It's very easy to use and I even find it a tad more intuitive than the standard Ipod Firmware. However it can be a bit unstable sometimes. But afters years of Linux use you kind of get use to that sort of thing.

I find the menu of rockbox just a little to responsive as I keep switching recording on instead of settings.

I to find rockbox a tad unstable but with years of windoze use I'm kinda use to that also being unstable. LOL...

I use a mac, DOH

I only really use Rockbox after a good charge and in the car. In school and stuff I prefer to use the default iPod firmware because it is much faster, I get less questions, helps save battery, and sound quality isn't so important when everything around me is so loud.

Btw Edart, loaning your iPod to a nephew you just killed your other one? Sounds dangerous :O

I actually have a brand new in the box 80G 5.5g ipod, which I got to load up with rockbox. Now I am debating whether or not I should proceed as planned or if I should just put it on Ebay.

I am leaning towards Ebay because of the lousy battery performance complaints.
