I was in the process of updating mine to the latest firmware. It said that an iPod was connected but wasn't on the desktop. Next thing I knew the lcd went blank & that was that. Won't power up... won't reset. Any suggestions or am I fudged? This was iPod #2 30gig for me...

If it was mine I'd open it up and disconnect the battery for a couple minutes to discharge (it's easier than it seems). They did this to mine once in an Apple store (back during the battery problem days) to reset it. You may not want to pry it open though. Not sure how it affects the warrantee.

But, I haven't had any issues updating my original 5 gigger several times.

It's one of the new ones. Dunno if I want to try it. Funny thing is this is the second time this has happened with the same machine! GUess I won't be using the Mac at work anymore.

Me... I called Apple and got them to dispatch my IPod. I just got a brand new one from Apple a couple of days ago. Very good warranty service from Apple

yea? so it would be pretty painless to get a replacement remote? mine cuts out in a channel and needs to be wigglied to fix it, and this seems to be a common problem.

Hey, look on the bright side, at least you get a brand new iPod

But i guess you've gotta transfer all music back into it

I got smart 3 years ago when I got my first Archos. Backed everything up and still have it. Only lost about 6 albums I put on recently. The only thing that concerns me is I hope they didn't get a bad run of 30 gig.
