I need a good isolation, closed PROTABLE headphone and I came the Audio Technica ES7... because its like the only one I can buy in MISSISSAUGA... I can buy a Sennheiser HD25 at Vistek for 330... which is overpriced and WAY out by budget ($200 tops with taxes included already)

can anyone recommended me a closed portable headphone with good isolation that I can purchase locally in Mississauga? or is the ES7 a top contender? I really CANNOT buy outside of Mississauga ON. don't try to ask why, I just can't =(

i started a thread about something like this recently.

after looking around a bit i found that people seem to think that the ES7's, though sounding great, offer very little noise isolation.

so by purchased locally you mean you can't order headphones online?

Actually, he did say $200 CAD. And he cannot buy online at all because he has no credit card at all. And most online resellers require a credit (or debit) card, and will not accept any other means of payment.

And he did say that the HD25s actually cost $400 CAD over there - and you said $189 USD for those headphones (and most US-based resellers will only ship within the Continental US; in fact, Amazon USA will not ship electronics at all outside the Continental US - they will ship only books internationally). The current exchange rate between USD and CAD is about 1.18 - that is, $1.00 USD equals about $1.18 CAD.

Then there's the warranty issue: Sennheiser USA, like all other consumer electronics manufacturers doing business in the USA, write their warranties so that the warranties apply only to the original purchaser (and cannot be transferred to another person). This means that if you (the Canadian purchaser) buys the headphones from a US reseller and then have it shipped to a US-based address belonging to somebody else, you will have no warranty at all since the third party would then become the original purchaser; in that case, you would have to deal directly with that original (third-party) purchaser if something goes wrong with the headphones. Some consumer electronics manufacturers will not even touch any of their products unless they've been purchased in the same country as the distributor's location (e.g. Company X's Canadian service centre will not even touch anything that wasn't legitimately purchased within Canada, so they'll just return your non-Canadian-market Company X-branded product to you unrepaired).
