I am looking to upgrade from my gen 2 Bose triport earbuds. I'm considering The Ultimate Ears super fi 5 EB. I listen to 50/50 rap/metal. My question is are these a good choice? they should obviously have good bass response but are the highs good to? Is it worth $50 upgrading to the super fi pro? How does the bass compar from the EB's to the Pro's?

Also, does the Extended bass version respond to really low frequencies (less than 40 Hz)

You might want to look into Future Sonics M5 / M8 as well.

They have lots of bass, great for rap but might be a bit boomy and slow for metal. Highs are not bad. Generally the Atrio M5 is a better choice for metal as its bass is much more punchy.

Super fi 5 pro is rather outdated and I think no one should consider them at the moment when there are better options.
