I'm going to be ordering a pair of the gold E888LP (long cord version) and was wondering before I placed the order-- is the cord the same length going to each earbud, or is one longer than the other (to go around behind your neck)? I know that the EX70's are like that, and to be honest, I can't stand it! All my other buds are equal length cords to each earpiece, and I'm hoping the E888LP's are the same in this respect.

Anyone care to put this one to rest for me? Also, is the cord thicker on the 888's than on the EX70's? That's another thing that annoyed me-- that cord was so thin, it just didn't seem like it would hold up over time...

thanks!

Unfortunately, appar111, the MDR-E888LP has the right-side cord longer than the left, as well.

In fact, with the Sony line of "Bud Style" earbuds, you'll have to jump all the way down to the MDR-E829V ($14.99) or the MDR-ED21LP ($19.99) just to have a symmetrical (equal-length) cord for each channel.

But why do that when the Sennheiser MX### earbuds outperform the low-end Sonys at their price points?

personally i hate earbud cords that are equal length on both sides. i like the necklace cord, so there's only the cord on my left side instead of a y-shaped string in front of me, which always gets in the way of things, like getting caught on a jacket zipper, getting caught on the strap of my bag, etc.

anyway, the 888's have the necklace cord, but its substantially thicker than the EX70. one thing i hate about the 888's cord is that it constantly curls while the EX70's cord stays straight.

if you do need the y-cord on earbuds, i think the MX500 is the only choice, as eagle driver said.
